Common questions
Is Coptic Charades free?
Yes. The app and all of its decks are free, with no ads and no account.
How do I play?
Pick a deck and tap Start. Hold the phone sideways against your forehead with the screen facing out. Your friends act out or hint at the word, and you guess. Tilt the screen down when you get it and up to pass, or tap the right side for correct and the left side to pass.

Tilting isn't working. What should I do?
Hold the phone upright on your forehead first. The app waits for that before counting a tilt, so lifting the phone into place never answers by accident. After each word, bring the phone back upright before tilting again.
You can always tap the sides of the screen instead.
How do teams work?
Choose Teams on the home screen, pick a deck, and name two to four teams. Choose how many rounds each team plays. Teams take turns, the scoreboard keeps track, and words don't repeat during a game.
How do I record a round?
On the deck page, turn on Record this round. The first time, the app asks to use the camera and microphone. The front camera films the people giving clues, and the word, timer and score appear on the video. Recordings are saved in the Memories tab, where you can watch, share or delete them.
My recording has no sound.
The microphone permission may be off. Open the iPhone Settings app, go to Coptic Charades, and turn on Microphone.
How do I play on a TV or projector?
Open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring and choose your TV, or connect a TV or projector with an HDMI adapter. The TV shows the timer, score and answers, and keeps the current word hidden. If the TV is behind the guesser, turn on Show the word on the TV in Settings.
What are the info buttons on the results screen?
Words with a short explanation have an info button. Tap it to learn who or what the word is, and use Previous and Next to read the others.
Do I need internet to play?
Only the first time, to download the decks. After that they're saved on your device and work offline. New decks appear the next time you're online.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes, in any orientation. With a keyboard attached, the left arrow passes and the right arrow marks a word correct.
How do new decks get added?
Decks are added on our side and appear in the app automatically, without an update. Pull down on the home screen to check for new ones.
